We are walking to raise funds for pancreatic cancer. Not many people know pancreatic cancer is the 3rd leading cause of cancer deaths in Australia with a very low survival rate of only 11.5%.
I was diagnosed with pancreas cancer in Dec 2021, had 7 rounds of chemotherapy and then the Whipple Operation in June 2022 to remove the cancer tumour at the head of my pancreas. I am one of the fortunate people who had early warning signs and symptoms as the cancer was located at the head of the pancreas. My prognosis is pretty good as the operation went very well, with no evidence of spread and all the margins around the cancerous tumour are clear, so I have a good chance of long term survival.
The disease receives little or no funding because it has been placed in the “too hard” basket for many years but those affected by pancreatic cancer deserve an equal chance of survival to those diagnosed with other high profile cancers.
Please support us as we put our foot down for pancreatic cancer because together, we can make an impact and help others.
Thank you !
